License plate campaign
Rocky Mountain Strong: A Colorado License Plate for Suicide Loss Awareness.
We collected the signatures. Now we are working to get this plate in front of the Colorado legislature in January 2027.

The plate idea
The design.
Our plate shows a phoenix rising from a dark, starry night into a sunrise. It stands for rebirth, transformation, and resilience, and for making it through a rough night to the next morning. The mountains are a subtle teal, a quiet nod to suicide prevention awareness colors.
If the plate is approved, proceeds would help fund suicide loss support and prevention programs in Colorado.
Where we are
The road to the plate.
- Application approved by the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles.
- Collected all the required signatures in summer 2026.
- Getting our paperwork and everything in order.
- Finding a legislative sponsor when the session begins in January 2027.
- If a bill passes and is signed into law, the plate becomes available to order.
A special license plate becomes real only if a bill passes the Colorado legislature and is signed into law. We are not there yet, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Thank you
Thank you to everyone who signed.
3,600+ signatures
I started this foundation after losing my dad to suicide. So when I say this plate means something to me, I mean it.
Every person who signed is part of that story. So many of you have been touched by suicide. You lost a family member, a friend, a coworker, or someone you loved. Others of you signed because you care about the people around you and you believe mental health matters. Either way, you showed up for your fellow Coloradans, and you did it for people you will never meet.
We could not be more thankful to be in your company.
No matter what happens with the plate, it is an honor to be supported by you and to carry this forward for everyone in Colorado who cares about mental health as much as we do.
Thank you for signing. Thank you for caring.
Your names are yours. We will never post them.

FAQ
Questions about the license plate
- What is a special license plate?
- A Colorado plate people can choose that supports a cause. Special plates are created by state law, which is why this campaign goes through the legislature.
- Is the plate approved?
- Not yet. A bill still has to pass in the legislature and be signed into law before the plate can exist.
- When could it be available?
- Not before the 2027 legislative session at the earliest. Even if a bill passes, the state then has to produce the plate before anyone can order it.
- How will the money be used?
- We are working out the details, and proceeds are meant to support suicide loss and prevention programs in Colorado.
- Can I still sign the petition?
- The signature requirement has been met, so the petition is closed. The best way to help now is to sign up for updates on this page so we can reach you when the bill needs support.
